E.J. Riley is an author working from unceeded Wurundjeri country in Naarm (Melbourne), Australia. There she lives with her partner and her two cats: Nutmeg & Pierogi.

 

She writes New Adult and Adult fiction across multiple genres. Namely, fantasy, romantasy, sci-fi, contemporary, historical and literary fiction. She enjoys the idea that she is a reader of all, and writer of most. 

 

Growing up, E.J. lived in Mparntwe (Alice Springs) and cites the desert for her creativity. E.J. started writing when she was only five-years-old, her first book being about a cassowary who liked punk music. Like most gen Z's, E.J. got sucked into the world of fanfiction, writing extensive works across sites like Tumblr, Wattpad and Fanfiction.net from eleven-years-old. Throughout her teen years this evolved from writing just fanfictions to commissioned pieces to producing her own work. She credits her parents and their overwhelming support of her writing throughout her childhood for her bravery in still writing now. 

 

In her adult life, E.J. Riley has worked as an archaeologist, historian, historiographer, mythologist and teacher while writing. Her studies and careers have led her to travel the world, and read as many books as she can get her hands on.

 

Currently E.J. is working on a high-fantasy, romantasy series, with the first in the series titled: 'The Seekers Guild', as well as a short, folk, spooky fantasy: 'Lungs Amidst Moss'. Additionally, E.J. Riley is working towards getting her romance short story 'The Curious Beguilement of Pasha & June' ready for indie publication.
